Class Descriptions
Sunday Karma Practice: Hatha Practice
One of the oldest forms of yoga, this traditional Hatha practice will focus on pranayama (breath work), alignment and embodied movement. This is a slower and more gentle practice. Asanas (physical postures) are generally held for longer than in a Vinyasa class and there are no 'flowing transitions' in between them. Classes will often have an energetic or anatomical focus and may incorporate mantras, mudras, pranayama or meditation. It is great for beginners and anyone needing to bring more grounding, balance and focus in their life. We recommend attending this class before trying a more vigorous Vinyasa practice.
Vinyasa An active and energizing practice that links a variety of different postures with breath through flowing movements and creative transitions in order to cultivate space, strength and flexibility in the body. Classes will often work towards a ‘peak’ pose or have a specific anatomical focus. The practice will cater to every level of yogi, offering adjustments and modifications for both the beginner and the advanced practitioner.
Yin Yoga This practice is comprised of more passive poses that are held for 3 to 5 minutes each to deeply stretch muscles and fascia, opening up lines of energy and offering a deep relaxation for the mind and body. We will often utilize blocks, bolsters and straps to support the body and allow us to move deeper into the poses in order to receive their full physical and mental benefits.

The wall can add assistance and resistance for a more effective stretch and strength training. The wall assists with balance and helps beginners, intermediate and advanced students move more gracefully.
Happy Hip Opener- Why come to a hip opening class? There are so many reasons to do hip-opening poses. Supple hips can ease back pain, give you a better gait and even improve the circulation of your legs. We hold stress and negative emotions- such as fear, guilt and sadness- in our pelvis. A hip opening class helps to move your ball and socket hip joint through it's full range of motion. When you do it regularly, you may find improvement in all exercising you do; golf, running, tennis, cycling and various other sports. This class includes a warm up and then select poses are chosen that work specifically to open up the hips. This is followed by a few restorative poses to allow for the greatest release of the hips.
